MASTURBATION CONCERNS
I’m often asked whether masturbation is normal from a sex therapy view point. The answer is yes. When does it become a problem?
When it starts to cross over to an area of concern is when a person’s sexual actions negatively affect a major area of his or her life. This could include masturbating so often that the skin on the penis is worn away, perhaps causing medical problems. Another example would be if a person’s religious beliefs are against masturbation and they have so much guilt about it that it incapacitates them.
Whenever someone continues to do something that is self-destructive, there’s a reason for concern – sexual or otherwise.
